Arrive at our office to get checked in and take part in pre-flight information. After chatting with your experienced mountain pilot, you will together set off on your flightseeing adventure into The Alaska Range!
Upon takeoff from Talkeetna you will instantly be met with magnificent views of the Susitna valley and, in the distance, The Alaska Range. Our pilots are intimately familiar with this country and will point out sights on the way, as the terrain gradually changes through the foothills of the Alaska Range.
View The Mountain House that was built here in 1960's by our namesake Don Sheldon as a climber refuge and private retreat is a popular overnight destination to this day. On the far side of the amphitheatre you will see Mooses Tooth, Bear Tooth and Broken Tooths dramatic peaks that serve as popular climbing destinations.
To top it off you will experience the immense Ruth Gorge on the way back to Talkeetna. The Great Gorge, as it is sometimes called, is a mile deep in some places. The floor is the rugged Ruth Glacier. Watch for the brilliant pools of bright-blue glacier melt water!
The Around The Mountain Adventure is perfect for anyone seeking the full beauty of the Alaska Range and Denali on a beautiful panoramic Alaskan day. View the famed North Face of Denali and the 14,000 foot high Wickersham Wall, one of the longest uninterrupted vertical rises in the world.
As you approach Talkeetna take a right turn and cross the train tracks. Take the first right turn onto the gravel road that follows the airfield and stop at the last hangar in the row. You will see Sheldon Scenic Flights painted in big letters on the side of the building.
