The Mira de Aire Caves are a group of limestone caves located in Mira de Aire , in the municipality of Porto de Mós , in the district of Leiria , Portugal . One of these caves, called Gruta dos Moinhos Velhos , is explored for tourist purposes and is considered a Property of Public Interest . The maximum depth of the caves is 110 metres. It is the largest cave, extending for 11 kilometres, although only the first few hundred metres are accessible. The Mira de Aire Caves were discovered on 27 July 1947. However, it was not until September 1953 that the entire route of the caves, as it is today, became known. They are located in the Estremenho Limestone Massif , an area of around 900 square kilometres with very compact and hard limestone rocks. The action of water on limestone causes sinkholes to be created underground .

The Basilica of Nossa Senhora do Rosário (commonly called the Basilica of the Rosário ) is a basilica that is part of the Sanctuary of Fátima , located in Cova da Iria , in Fátima , in the municipality of Ourém , in Portugal .

The Rosary Basilica began to be built in 1928 , in neo-baroque style , according to a project by the Dutch architect Gerardus Samuel van Krieken . It stands on the spot where the Little Shepherds were playing making a small stone wall when they saw the flash that made them think it was a thunderstorm , on May 13 , 1917 . The first stone was blessed by the Archbishop of Évora , D.Manuel da Conceição Santos , in 1928, with the consecration taking place on October 7 , 1953 . In 1954 it was granted the title of Minor Basilica by Pope Pius XII .

Praia da Nazaré is a neighborhood, on the seafront, of one of the most traditional Portuguese fishing villages, Nazaré , having the most popular bathing beach on the West coast , in the Center region , where you can still find, on the sand, some women dressed in the traditional costume of seven skirts, taking care of the fish that dries in the sun, lined up on stakes.

The bathing beach, completely integrated into the urban area by the houses on the waterfront, is limited to the north by the promontory and to the south by the harbor jetty, retaining traditional cloth tents with brightly colored stripes in summer . Bathed by seas that are sometimes rough and have strong waves, it is ideal for swimming, surfing and bodyboarding.

The name Óbidos probably derives from the Latin term oppidum , which means “citadel”, or “fortified city”. The Romans lived there until the 5th century before abandoning the city following the fall of Rome.

In the 8th century, the Moors established a fortification at the top of the hill. The latter was taken over by the first king of Portugal, Afonso Henriques (Alphonse I of Portugal), in 1148 and it was modified in the 14th century. here the travelers will visit the castle and enjy the old vellage.
