About 1,5 - 2 hours and 2,5 km further on, you will not only have seen the most beautiful spots of the city during this city walk in Braunschweig, but you will also have done the local police a favour by finding one of the city's biggest criminals... The Brutal Braunschweiger.

The trail naturally leads along the 20 most beautiful and surprising places in Braunschweig.

2

With this Escape the City Tour you will see the highlights of Braunschweig. A few you can see below.

3

The Marienbrunnen, also known as the Altstadtmarktbrunnen, is a late Gothic fountain located in Braunschweig's Old Town Market. Cast in lead on 24 November 1408, it features three pyramidal basins adorned with coats of arms, figures, floral decorations, and inscriptions in Middle Low German and Latin. Originally serving as a vital water source for the city's residents, the fountain was largely destroyed during World War II and was reconstructed in 1988, with some original fragments preserved in the Old Town Hall.

4

The Schlossmuseum Braunschweig is a history museum located in the north wing of the reconstructed Braunschweig Palace, reopened in 2007. Its permanent exhibition recreates the 19th-century residence of Duke Wilhelm of Brunswick, featuring original furnishings, artworks, and decorative items in rooms such as the throne room, audience chamber, and music room. The museum offers visitors an immersive experience into the life and history of the Welf dynasty and the Duchy of Brunswick.

5

The Staatstheater Braunschweig is a historic theatre and opera house in Braunschweig, Germany, with origins dating back to 1690, making it one of the oldest public theatres in the country. The current main building, known as the "Großes Haus," was inaugurated in 1861 and showcases a neoclassical architectural style. Today, the theatre offers a diverse programme across five divisions, including opera, drama, dance, youth theatre, and symphonic concerts, performed in multiple venues such as the Großes Haus, Kleines Haus, and the Aquarium.
