About this experience

Experience the spectacular beauty of rural Rwanda. This tour begins from Musanze. We travel together off the tourist path to Vunga Village in Nyabihu District. In Vunga, guests will be welcomed by local villagers and then proceed to hike through the beautiful foothills of Binana Mountain. Your efforts will be rewarded when we reach the stunning waterfalls of the Mukungwa River. Here guests will have plenty of time to explore this unique environment - whether that means climbing and playing in the waterfalls or simply taking a moment to relax, eat lunch, and take in the scenery. After basking in the waterfalls we hike back to the village. Before returning to Musanze, guests have the chance to cross the local suspension bridge for exceptional views of Rwanda's 1000 hills.

This is a private tour catered to guest interests with a duration of 6-8 hours. Guests will need sturdy hiking shoes or rain boots, a rain jacket, and their water and lunch for the day. Local snacks will be provided.

Detailed itinerary

Hike the beautiful foothills of Binana Mountain and play in the waterfalls of the Mukungwa River.

8-9am: This tour starts from Musanze where we will travel together to Vunga village to start the hike.

9-11am: Hike through the glorious mountain valley, observing local life of villagers who call this area home.

11-1:30pm: Experience the adventure of climbing a waterfall. Explore the unique landscape of rubagabaga rocks nestled among the waterfalls. Stop for lunch while basking in the beauty of the falls.

1:30-2pm: Hike through the mountain forest back to Vunga Village.

2-3pm: Meet with friendly village residents on your way to cross a suspension bridge for incredible views of Rwanda's 1000 hills.

3-4pm: Return to Musanze.
