Detailed itinerary

1

We take off the bullet train at this station and take a bus.

2

Hakone Shrine sits at the bottom of Mount Hakone next to Lake Ashinoko. It's surrounded by a thick forest and stands out with its big torii gates(Heiwa no torii). One even in the lake and two on the main street of Moto-Hakone. You can follow a path from the gate in the lake, climbing steps with lanterns, to reach the main shrine among tall trees. The shrine looks beautiful all year round, especially when there's mist. Another shrine, Mototsumiya, is up on Komagatake peak, and you can get there by taking the Hakone Komagatake Ropeway or hiking from Hakone-en.

3
Stop 3

Lake Ashinoko, formed 3000 years ago in Mount Hakone's old volcano crater, is a beautiful spot surrounded by nature in Hakone. We take a pirate ship at Motohakone port and enjoy the view from the lake. Sometimes, clouds make it hard to see Mount Fuji from the lake, so it's a special treat if you catch a clear view of the famous mountain. Even with the chance of clouds, Lake Ashinoko is a peaceful and scenic place to visit, showcasing the natural beauty of the Hakone area.

4
Stop 4

The Hakone Ropeway provides a seamless and frequent journey with its gondolas departing every minute,
This adventure offers not only convenience but also breathtaking views of the Owakudani Valley. You can enjoy the dynamic and sulfuric hot spring sources smell below.
Hakone Ropeway a must-try attraction for those exploring the Hakone region.

5

Owakudani is an area formed by Mount Hakone's eruption 3000 years ago, featuring active volcanoes, hot springs, and rivers. Visitors can experience sulfurous fumes in this volcanic zone and enjoy clear views of Mount Fuji on good days. In Owakudani, shops sell eggs cooked in hot spring pools, their shells turned black by sulfur. Eating one of these eggs is believed to add seven years to your life.
