MISERICÓRDIA CHURCH

Dated of the XVII Century, this church had an impressive ceiling in tiles, with Our Lady life steps.

MAIN CHURCH (ST.PAUL’S CHURCH)

Mother Church of Salvaterra de Magos, was built in the XIII Century and was almost teared down by the huge earthquakes of the XVIII Century.

CHAPELL OF THE OLD ROYAL PALACE

Temple of Renaissance, built by the orders of Infant D.Lewis, on the XVI Century.

ARNEIRO’S FOUNTAIN

Built in 1711, this fountain was the only place where people could get water, in the entire village.

PIER  AND BRIDGE OF THE ROYAL DITCH

Here was the ditch where the Royal Family would arrive, from Lisbon, by boat, for their leisure evenings (Opera and Theater), aswell as their hunting with the hawks.

FALCOARIA  REAL  OF SALVATERRA DE MAGOS

The Royal Falconry of Salvaterra de Magos, nominally the Art of Falconry, has been recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, by UNESCO, in Dec. 2016.

Nowadays, the Falconry has its own Treaty and obeys to restricted laws and rules.

In the Falcoaria Real of Salvaterra de Magos, which is closely associated to the History of Country House of the Royalty, we can find –around 30 species of birds;flight and training demonstration of several birds;staged “prey capture”.

BARRETES  &  SALVATERRA EELS – Tipical Delicatessen of Salvaterra de Magos

For those who enjoy cakes and pastry, we have the typical Salvaterra de Magos pastry called Barretes, with a lovely taste of orange and almonds, in a small cake, which can be tasted here and taken home in a suggestive bag.

We also have the Salvaterra Eels, that, as its name says, look like eels. A dry and interesting cookie, which can also be taken home, in a traditional box.

After visiting all the points of interest in Salvaterra, it's time to have our   unforgettable lunch, in a lovely and typical restaurant, in ESCAROUPIM, river view.

ESCAROUPIM THE FISHING VILLAGE What to do in ESCAROUPIM:

To make a Cruise on the Tagus -this cruise is made through the old river road, where people and goods would go to and from Lisbon. During one hour or so, we can admire the river fauna and flora.Keep your eyes and ears alert, because all kind of birds may, and will, join us in this ride.If possible, we may enjoy a wine tasting during or before/after our cruise.

To visit a Typical House of the 30s/40s.

Hope you enjoy this ALL INCLUDED ONE DAY TRIP through Ribatejo and some of its typical houses, monuments, history and people.
