The activity takes place in Monte, where you can choose to ride the toboggans (at an extra cost), more commonly known as “Carreiros do Monte." Toboggan riding was traditionally a means of transportation by locals who wanted to travel quickly from Monte´s village to Funchal. This adventurous and old-fashioned transportation appeared around the 1850s and is still in use today.

There won’t be a lot of walking or steps involved in the experience, the TUK TUK will bring right on the action!
There is a total of 10 steps in this experience, so it’s accessible for everyone!
We don’t recommend wheels chairs users or baby chairs because of space constraints, there isn’t a lot of space to store these items.

Starting our journey in Funchal, we will be heading to a beautiful viewpoint around 400 meters above the see level, that overlooks the city of Funchal, where we will be able to take some beautiful photos.
And then we will be heading to Monte, where the main experience will take place.
Arriving to Monte, the driver will guide you to the beginning of the tobbogan ride and on the away you will be insights about how this tradition started and some fun facts about it!
Once we arrive to the tobbogans, the guide will explain where you can buy the tickets for the tobbogan ride itself and also explain where you will be picked after the tobbogan ride down the road.
This part of the experience lasts between 7-10 minutes.

The guide will be already in the arrival point waiting after the ride, then you will be informed that you have 5 to 10 minutes of free time in the shops and café or even the toilet if needed!
After the tobbogan ride, the experience continues to the oldest part of the city of Funchal! The old town, a wonderful place in which we find the painted doors, many restaurants, the Farmers Market!
