In the first decades of the twentieth century, the Administration commissioned the design of a space dedicated to the food market.
The Market is known for the authenticity of the products and the sincerity of the direct relationships with the sellers. The Town Hall of Modena is one of the most significant buildings in the city and is a collection of historic buildings that have been unified over the centuries. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, when it was built to house the city’s government institutions.

The Municipal Theater of Modena, built starting in 1841 during the dukedom of Francesco IV, was designed by the architect Francesco Vandelli. After the death of Luciano Pavarotti, the theater was named in his name to honor the memory and exceptional career of the famous tenor from Modena, considered one of the greatest interpreters of opera of the 20th century.

The Ducal Palace of Modena is considered one of the first examples of Baroque architecture in Europe and represents a seventeenth-century masterpiece.
The Palazzo Ducale in Modena currently houses the Military Academy, so it is not usually accessible for independent visits. Access is permitted exclusively via guided tours and upon reservation. Tours are available on Saturdays and Sundays.

Built on the site of the ancient Augustinian Convent, the Museum palace building, that hosts the Galleria Estense was built in 1774 by Duke Francesco III d’Este based on a design by Pietro Termanini and originally intended as an Albergo dei Poveri.

The Galleria contains a vast collection of works of art accumulated by the Dukes of Este.
