It's worth a glimpse and enchantment. Initially it was called Vale do Bom Retiro. After a fire that destroyed the immense forest in the region, Leopoldo Rosenfeldt built the lake, decorating its banks with trees imported from the Black Forest of Germany, hence its name, Black Lake. Its waters are deep and dark green, reflecting the height of the pine trees that alternate with the color of azaleas in winter and the blue of hydrangeas in summer. Along its entire shore there is a flower-filled promenade, allowing you to walk. However, the biggest attraction is the pedal boats, which give the lake a happy and busy color.

Castelinho Caracol is one of the first residences in Canela.
Built at the beginning of the century. XX by the couple Pedro Carlos Franzen and Luiza Sommer Franzen, all in Araucaria wood, a pine tree typical of the region.
Its construction system was made using fittings and screws, without the use of nails.
The residence was inhabited until 1980 by the eldest daughter Irene and in 1985 Castelinho Caracol was transformed into a Museum and Tea House. Traditional recipes come from the kitchen, Apfelstrudel and Waffel made on the original wood stove, and visitors can enjoy them in the two tea rooms inside the Museum.
Castelinho Caracol, with its intact walls, shows the legacy of Pedro Franzen, where you can appreciate and experience it through a true trip to the past.
