This is a famous monument of the only dog -Great Dane- in SA, ever to be enlisted in the Royal Navy shore establishment in Simon’s Town between 1939 and 1944. Able Seaman ‘Just Nuisance’ was rating with rank, pay, rations and duties – the same privileges as any other rating with the same rank. of ‘Able Seaman’ (AB)served at HMS Afrikander, a Royal Navy, South Africa.
