Detailed itinerary

1

After a 90 mins drive from Beirut, we reach the entrance of the Qadisha valley, and the first section of the valley that is Qannoubine. This part of the Sacred Valley includes a spectacular panoramic view during our drive down, and two main historical monasteries in which saints and church figures are burried, and an old church and burial site as well. Once we complete our first stop, Saint Lishaa Monastery (30 mins visit), a 20 mins offroad drive will lead us to the second historical monastery, Our Lady Of Qannoubine, the old village, and the church of Saint Marina of Venezia (60 mins visit)

2

The hermitage of Hawqa holds the story of some legendary confrontations between the locals and the Mamlouks army early in the Middle Ages. To reach there, we'll do a 45 mins hike from Qannoubine to the Hermitage of Hawqa (45 mins visit).

3

Once we leave Hawqa, we'll walk towards the village of Fraidis (Heavens in Lebanese), a 90 mins walk. Once we reach the village, we stop by a water source and set our small picnic there. After lunch, we continue a 60 mins walk to reach the Monastery of Saint Anthony if Qozhaya, housing the oldest religious community in the area, and the first original Guttenberg printing press to be brought to the Middle East. Our visit to the Monastery takes an hour, followed by a coffee break in their humble caffeteria.
