Next, we will continues to the Lingyin Temple where we will spend some time appreciating the profound Buddhist atmosphere.
This is the oldest temple in Hangzhou with a history of over 1,700 years. It is also regarded as a treasure of the Buddhist culture, housing various historic relics from different dynasties. A maverick monk named Ji Gong (1148 - 1209) was ordained at Lingyin Temple. Our guide will tell you some interesting stories about this renowned monk who usually wore rags , was unkempt, and violated Buddhist commandments.
After lunch, we will proceed to a tea plantation to learn about the tea culture of Hangzhou. Longjing Tea or dragon well tea of more than 1200 years old is the No. 1 tea in China and regarded as the “Green Queen”. Visit Longjing Tea plantations in Hangzhou to appreciate the charming verdant sightseeing and know more about the culture of tea and Chinese nation.
Afterwards,visit to the Six Harmonious Pagoda which stands by the turbulent Qiantang River.
Built during the Northern Song Dynasty (960 - 1127), the Six Harmonies Pagoda has been guarding the running Qiantang River for over 1,000 years. Seen from the exterior, it is a 13-storey pagoda about 60 meters (200 feet) tall, with an iron bell hung under each of the 104 cornices of the tower. You only need to climb up 7 floors inside to reach the top, which will provide you the best view of the Qiantang River scenery.
