The tour of Tomar begins with a visit to the majestic Convent of Christ, considered one of the largest monastic complexes in Europe and classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Here, you can admire the architectural richness of the convent, including the beautiful cloister and the famous Manueline window.
You will then move on to the Castle of Tomar, built in 1160, as the seat of the religious and military order of the Knights Templar, where you can learn about the history of the Order and admire the grandeur of this monument.
Then, you will visit the famous Aqueduct of the Convent of Christ, where you will be able to enjoy spectacular views of this historical monument that dates back to the 15th century. With an extension of more than five kilometers, this magnificent aqueduct is one of the greatest architectural symbols of the city.
After visiting the aqueduct, the journey continues towards Dornes, a small town that is home to the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Pranto and offers breathtaking views of the Zêzere River. You will take the time to explore the narrow streets of the city and taste some local gastronomic delights.
