Detailed itinerary

1

Listen to the story about the name Slatina and about famous people from Croatia whose names are written on the stars in the Croatian Street of Fame. Enjoy the wonderful view of the sea and the largest Croatian island. You will wonder if the sea is always so calm here, or if it is always so wavy.

2

Lungomare is a promenade by the sea built during the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It connects three little towns, and the Opatija part is in the middle. We will walk around the Opatija part of the Lungomare and see several sculptures. The most famous among them is the Maiden with a Seagull - one of the symbols of Opatija.

3

From Lungomare, we will also take a look at St. Jakob Park. Here is the parish church of St. Jakob, the Madonna del Mare sculpture, the fountain of Helios and Selena and the art pavilion. From the Park of St. Jakob, we also have a view of the historic hotel - today's Imperial Heritage Hotel.

4

Hotel Kvarner is the first hotel in Opatija, but also on the eastern coast of the Adriatic. What do you think, did Franjo Josip and Sisi stay there?

5

Between Hotel Kvarner and Park Angiolina there is a reconstruction of a former typical Austro-Hungarian bathing area. In the Angiolina park, the most famous landmark is the Angiolina villa (currently under renovation). Find out who Angiolina and Iginio were, where the magnolias, bamboo and cedar in the park came from. Why is there a small music pavilion in this park?
See where Tom Jones held his concert in the summer of 2022, as well as which celebrities visited Opatija in the past - on the Wall of Fame.

6

The market building is another example of Austro-Hungarian architecture in Opatija. It is located in the main street of Opatija, where there are many other villas, hotels, bars, restaurants and shops.
