Apart from the teluk cempedak beach, you can also find this breathtaking waterfall in kuantan. It a popular picnic spot in kuantan. They even have a special site for barbecue and camping. If you’re not in the mood to go for a swim, you can go for a light walk around the ‘mystical’ forest by following the jungle trail. Who knows you may be lucky enough to spot the largest endangered species in Asia which is tapir. So if you’re a nature lover, this is the perfect place to visit in kuantan.

3

Jokingly called the El Dorado of the East, Sungai Lembing was once a rich tin mining town. Set 42 kilometres from town the Sungai Lembing Museum – built by the Museums and Antiquities Department – was built to commemorate the town’s bygone glory days. Artefacts on display range from equipment used for tin mining as well as train tracks that were used to traverse the quarries.

If you are a fan of history, then you are in for a treat! Take a ride down memory lane on an antique mine cart in Sungai Lembing’s abandoned tin mines. As the death knell sounded for the tin industry, gone are the glory days in Sungai Lembing. Nevertheless, there is much historical significance in these mines, which have been recently restored for exploration.

As the train enters the dark tunnel, feel a rush of cold breeze brush and your heart thump quicker with each chug. Shrouded in mystery and rumours of supernatural phenomenon, the eerie tunnel is ghastly yet captivating. Fun fact: these mines are more than 300-kilometres long and 700-metres deep – that’s the height of 14 storeys!

These decrepit mines tell the tales of blood, sweat and tears of young men who laboriously slogged in these dangerous mines, some never to see the light of day. More importantly, they also encapsulate the tenacious spirit of Malaysians who struggled to bring the bread home for their families – a single aspect that forms the cornerstone of Sungai Lembing’s identity.

5

13 kilometres from Sungai Lembing, Lao Zi Temple is home to the reputedly ‘longest manmade dragon’. Start out your winding journey to the temple going in through its ‘tail’ and coming out at the temple when you exit its ‘mouth’. Devotees believe that good luck comes to those who make the 2,700-foot pilgrimage through the dragon; annually, close to 100,000 visitors drop in to pay homage to the founder of Taoism.

6

Batik painting is an absolutely perfect respite for those who wants to catch a breather from the hustle and bustle of city life. Relish in a peaceful and quiet afternoon painting your very own batik artwork in Kuantan Natural Batik Village. Mix the basic colours until you find the perfect blend and use them to inject life into the intricate motifs. Plus, you also get to keep your very own batik painting afterwards!

The Natural Batik Village also sells stunning batik cloth, silk shirts, dresses – perfect souvenirs to remember your visit by! If you are curious as to how these are made, simply request for a tour to learn more about the process of batik manufacturing. The friendly locals would be more than happy to introduce you to their beautiful culture.

Mother nature in Malaysia sure does love black. We have the Langkawi black sand beach, and now black stone beach in Kuantan. I wish we have black sea somewhere in Malaysia because that would be awesome. Just like the name itself, this beach is full of black pebble stone that is scattered across the beach. It a great place for those who love to take a selfie or wefie.

8

Situated 10 kilometres from Kuantan town, Beserah is a tiny fishing village especially known for its seafood restaurants. Instagram photo moments include the sight of Beserah fishermen herding water buffaloes with carts onto the beach to assist them in pulling in their catch for the day. A few kilometres north of Beserah is Batu Hitam Beach – also known as Black Stones Beach.

9

A renowned beach in Kuantan, Teluk Cempedak is the perfect place to go for dazzling views of sunrise. As the pure scattered light illuminates the sky, its hues also chase away all darkness and worries accumulated from the concrete jungles. The rocks by the shore shine as if they are wearing golden crowns, and the tides of the sea race to reach the horizon where the majestic sun arises. In that moment, the serenity is simply unparalleled.

10

Constructed between 1991 and 1993, this powder-blue building is the east coast’s best known mosque and one of Kuantan’s top tourist draws. Located beside a vast football field, the structure features Moorish architecture as well as beautiful designs and etchings. At night it’s a pretty sight when its minarets, spires and turrets are brightly lit.

11

Kuantan 188 previously known as Menara Teruntum, is a 188-metre tower that graces the heart of Kuantan, Pahang. Kuantan 188 is the tallest tower in the East Coast and Malaysia’s second-tallest tower, only second to Menara Kuala Lumpur. On the 21st February 2022 Kuantan 188 received certification as an official member of the World Federation of Great Towers.
