Detailed itinerary

Stop 1

Your tour guide will be welcoming you at your hotel at 09:00 a.m. Then, we will transfer to Tongli Town and start the one-day Suzhou tour. Tongli water town is one of the six famous ancient water towns in the south of the Yangtze River Delta, which are famous for their rivers, ancient bridges and house complexes. Tongli is a wonderful travel destination where you can experience the original water town life in rural China. It is very rich in cultural heritage. Traditional residences including gardens, houses and temples, which are the highlight of the city.

Retreat and Reflection Garden (Tuisi Garden) is the most spectacular in the Tongli town. The ingenious design of the garden conforms to the local landforms and conditions. The residential area in the west consists of an outer house and an inner house including the sedan hall, the tea hall, a main reception hall and two buildings forming the actual dwelling. The garden in the east has ponds, marble boats, waterside pavilions, halls, kiosks, verandas, rockeries and bridges.

Suzhou Museum’s designer, I.M. Pei, an internationally recognized and award-winning architect, traveled back to his hometown to design and build one of Suzhou’s most popular attractions.
The museum exhibits a vast collection of ancient ceramics, cultural relics and woodcarvings, and the handsome lotus pool at the museum’s center is a highlight there.

The Humble Administrator's Garden, covering about 52,000 sq. meters (12.85 acres), is the largest and most renowned. Due to its unique designs and ethereal beauty, the garden has garnered many special honors. It was listed as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage and has also been designated as one of the Cultural Relics of National Importance under the Protection of the State as well as a Special Tourist Attraction of China. Along with the Summer Palace in Beijing, the Mountain Resort of Chengde in Hebei Province and the Lingering Garden in Suzhou, it is considered as one of China's four most famous gardens.

Take a boat along the canal to Pingjiang Road.
It’s a 1.6km-long narrow road along the old canal, Pingjiang River, still maintaining its ancient Chinese water town features.Many small alleys intersect Pingjiang Road.Along the alleys are many old residential areas where celebrities used to live. Nowadays they have been changed to bars, teahouses, and cafes, while still maintaining their former appearances.

Kunqu Opera is a World Intangible Cultural Heritage of China. Due to its influence on other Chinese theatre forms, it is known as the "teacher" or "mother" of a hundred operas, including Peking Opera. The tourists can enjoy the show of Kunqu and have a cup of tea. Wrap your memories and say good-bye in your hotel.
