About this experience

We are the sweetest and most unique experience that will introduce you to the panela culture and tradition of Antioquia, from which many peasant families live today, who grow, harvest and handcraft panela as part of their family legacy and livelihood. We are passionate growers for the field and development of Colombia and we are just 1 hour from the city of eternal spring Medellin.

Detailed itinerary

We will start our tour from the hotels or meeting points to the north of the metropolitan area, visiting municipalities such as: Bello, Copacabana, Girardota and Barbosa.

Our tour will start at the Finca "San Francisco" which is in the limits of the Municipality of Barbosa and Donmatias Antioquia, starting the Porce Canyon. We will start a short tour in a 4x4 jeep for 20 minutes, until we reach the cane crops, then we will walk for 5 minutes to the panelero mill "La Mulita", there we will go through each of the steps necessary to manufacture the panela in an artisanal way, you will have Tastings of different cane juice products, we will feed the mules carrying cane with our own hands, in addition to taking some photos with them and peasant farmers. Then we will continue our journey walking for 10 minutes to a fique crop.

After walking for 10 minutes we will enter the fique crop closest to the municipality of Medellin, where we will learn everything related to the cultivation and care of the plant and, most importantly, the processing for the extraction of fiber or cabuya, a product of great importance in Colombia's agricultural sector and its economy; finally we will return to the "San Francisco" farm to have a delicious typical lunch of the region and a tasting of infusion of aromatic plants in sugar cane honey as an appetizer, then we will have 40 free minutes where you can explore the surroundings of the farm and visit the beach bar full of beautiful souvenirs and sweets to take home.
