Detailed itinerary

1
Stop 1

On this private half-day tour, discover Sintra, a charming village with lush vegetation where the Portuguese royal family once spent their summers. We suggest exploring the exotic Pena Park, home to the magnificent Pena Palace — a remarkable structure showcasing a mix of decorative styles, symbols, and intriguing architectural details.

Dear Customer,

Please note that our company now includes Fast Track tickets for visiting Pena Palace to ensure total convenience and avoid long wait times.

If there is any change to the tour date, the customer will be responsible for the cost of the new ticket for the revised date.

The Palace now operates under a slot scheduling system, with timed entries every 30 minutes (e.g., 09:30, 10:00), and limited availability for each slot.

During high season or for bookings made only a few weeks in advance, availability may be limited — making Fast Track tickets not only included but highly recommended.

Stop 2

Very close to the historic centre of Sintra is Quinta Regaleira, one of the town’s most enigmatic sights.

The Palace of Quinta da Regaleira was built in the early 20th century by the millionaire António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro (1848-1920), who managed to realise one of his dreams here with the help of the scenographic architect Luigi Manini (1848-1936). Surrounded by lush green vegetation, the Palácio da Regaleira is a fascinating discovery. A special mention is reserved for the Capela da Santíssima Trindade (Chapel of the Holy Trinity), where visitors can descend via a spiral staircase into the crypt to discover the monumental initiation well that, at the bottom, leads via a grotto to a surprising lake hidden in the middle of the gardens.

Special notes:
- According to National Palace of Pena slot schedule system (half an hour entrances) and being the main activity, the visit to Regaleira may need be adjusted or cancelled. Our guide could offer you alternatives according with it.

3

After visiting Pena Palace, you will have free time to discover the historic center of Sintra. Explore the narrow streets and don't forget to try the famous queijadas and pillows.

Special notes (Summer 2025):

Due to the new traffic rules in Sintra and the high season in Pena Palace, our main goal will be providing quality on this half day tour. For this reason, we will visit Pena Palace (3h) and after that, we recommend the visit to Regaleira Gardens (1h) OR the historic center (1h). If the client wants to do the 3 stops , our guide should give you less minutes in each place, which in our perspective is not good for our clients.

In case that you would like to tailor made or customize your tour for more attractions, other highlights or more time.
