On this flexible combined private tour we begin the tour with main attractions in Salzburg city including "The Sound of Music“ film locations.
Heading east from Salzburg town the first lake we pass is the emerald lake Fuschlsee passing by also hotel Schloss Fushl and the headquarters of Red Bull. On request a photo stop at Red Bull will be possible!
Mozart’s mother was born and his sister lived during her first marriage, we will have a photo stop. You will be impressed by the incredible view over the Lake Wolfgangsee, the surrounding mountains and rock faces. This lake is the centre piece of the tour. (During Christmas 30 minutes time at St. Gilgen visit the Christmas market)!
We continue our journey further around the lake Wolfgangsee to St. Wolfgang village. At St. Wolfgang you can wander the village and visit the pilgrimage church with Michael Pacher’s winged Gothic altar.(During Advent we also can spend some time along the Christmas market stalls lining the streets.)!
“The Emperor City Bad Ischl”, we will pass Bad Ischl, the former summer residence of the Austrian emperors, known for healing cures and world famous for operettas.
At last we will get to the very heart of Salzkammergut, the UNESCO Cultural Heritage of the World Hallstatt and Lake Hallstättersee which is described by the committee as “Nature of extraordinary beauty added to scientific import”. The sensational findings even gave an entire epoch and a culture its names: The “Hallstatt Period” and “Hallstatt Culture” are scientific names for the Early Iron Age.
It is simply amazing how the houses were built between the mountains and the lake. And thus is the history of this outstanding sightseeing place. 7000 years of salt mining and findings of eminent historic import even gave a scientific epoch its name: The Hallstatt period with the Hallstatt Culture. Together with the Dachstein region it was declared an UNESCO Heritage site located in Salzkammergut region. In Hallstatt you will have few hours leisure time to explore the village or to visit additional places like 5Fingers or the salt mines.
We also drive through Gosau, beautiful Austrian Alpine skiing and hiking town surrounded by Dachstein mountains.
