We will head to the city of Dinant in a fast and comfortable train. Thanks to this means of transport, we will enjoy the rocky landscape and the little villages along the Meuse River. Authentic postcards to discover!
Upon arrival in Dinant, we will start our walking tour and we will discover the main monuments of the city. We also enter the interior of its impressive fortress from where we will have the most beautiful panoramic views of Belgium.
After finishing the visit of the Dinant fortress, we will have free time to have lunch and try the local food. We will take a train again and, in just 20 minutes, we will be in Namur, the capital of Wallonia. We will take a tour of its historic center and go up in a funicular to its Citadel, better known as "one of the largest in Europe".
At the end of the visit to Namur, you will have an hour for free time and then we will meet our guide again, to return to Brussels around 7:00 p.m.
Our guided tour of Dinant will begin at the Charles de Gaulle Bridge, where huge saxophones stand. And it is that this instrument was created by the famous Adolphe Sax, who was born precisely here. In his honour, Dinant organizes an international jazz competition every November.
We will visit the picturesque historic center of Dinant, with the Collegiate Church of Our Lady, in Mosan Gothic style. Its bulbous bell tower from the 16th century is very characteristic, contrasting with the rocky slopes located just behind. Inside, there are several pictorial works by Antoine Wiertz.
Located in a strategic place, it not only served as a refuge: it also protected the city. Its architecture reflects the passage of illustrious armies. Do not forget to take an unforgettable photo of your trip!
To conclude the first part of the trip,
Adolphe Sax's house
The Citadel of Namur, which we can go up to visit and, at the same time, we can enjoy some of the best panoramic views of Belgium.
Our guided tour of the historic center of Namur will start in the city center, our local guide will guide you through its picturesque streets. Of course, in the distance, the Citadel will always watch over us, which houses the bronze sculpture by Jan Fabre entitled The Search for Utopia.
Our tour will take us to the Baroque Church of Saint Loup. There we can admire its confessionals and its carved vaults and columns, a source of local pride.
In the Plaza de Armas, in front of the Palacio de Congresos, a bronze sculpture reminds us of the city's traditions and folklore. The namurenses have a reputation for being slow and therefore their symbol is the snail. Two gastropods are represented here alongside Djoseph and Françwès, the main characters of caricaturist Jean Legrand, who slowly wander through the streets of Namur, worried about the rain and the sun.
Next to the entrance of the European Parliament. Our guides have the white umbrella with the logo of our company.
The reservation will be shown to the guide at the meeting point.
