Hagia Sophia was built as a church in the 6th century by Emperor Justinian then in 1453 renovated into a mosque by Ottoman Emperor Fatih Sultan Mehmet. It was converted into a museum in 1935 and It was converted in 2020 renovated into a mosque and welcoming both local and foreign visitors.

We are visiting Eyüp Sultan Hazretleri in Istanbul's Eyüp neighbourhood, outside the city walls, near the Golden Horn, the Eyüp Sultan Mosque (Turkish: Eyüp Sultan Camii) stands. The building today dates back to the early 19th century. The mosque complex consists of a mausoleum, the place where the typical born and companion of Muslim prophet Muhammad, Abu Ayub al-Ansari, is said to be buried. We shall visit the tomb as well.

One of the hottest districts in Istanbul, Balat is home to beautiful architecture and a vibrant culture. Once the city’s Jewish quarter, Balat is still dotted with centuries-old synagogues, as well as historic churches and mosques. Here, you can browse quaint antique shops, cozy tea rooms and brand-new cafes, and walk down to the waterfront to take in the views of the Golden Horn. The neighborhood is also a popular spot for street photography.
