The Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre is a wildlife centre located roughly 25 miles by road south of Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The centre was established in 1995 and with an area of over 6,000 acres of protected regenerating forest, this is the largest zoo in Cambodia.
After an exciting ride by taxi through the countryside surrounding Phnom Penh we arrive at Phnom Tamao, which is home to The Wildlife Alliance. This nonprofit animal sanctuary spans 6000 acres surrounding a tree covered mountain. Here you will learn about important measures that have been taken to preserve wildlife across the Cardamom Mountains and beyond. You will have a chance to see tigers, monkeys, elephants, leopards, wild boar, deer, snakes, and more to discover. You will have the opportunity to feed fruit to the animals of your choice. We will spend approximately 4 hours on this visit.
We then continue our journey to Tonle Bati where we will enjoy a popular local lunch next to a beautiful lake. You can choose from grilled meats, frogs and fish, papaya salad, and pickled vegetables. You are recommended to try our popular sweet or alcoholic palm juice, or sugar cane juice. Relax lakeside in a traditional straw hut before continuing to our next destination. We will spend approximately 1.5 hours here.
Our final stop is Chisor Mountain Temple. Enjoy the stunning temple situated at the top of the mountain. Here, we will explore the ancient architecture and enjoy the countryside views from above, before ending our journey with a sunset drive through the countryside. We will spend approximately 1 hour here.
