This is the perfect option for a half day birding tour in Phnom Penh and would prefer to head out birding and enjoy good views of several wetland birds, water birds and especially the Cambodian Tailorbird, Oriental Pratincole, Striated grassbird, Purple Swamphen, Black Drongo, Chinese Pond Heron, Common Greenshank, Green Bee-Eater, Blue Tailed Bee-Eater etc.
Our trip will begin at 6:00am from the Areyksat ferry dock where we will cross the river by ferry and drive east to the wetland area of Mekong River. Here we will enjoy views of Black Drongo, Chinese Pond Heron, Zebra Dove, Indian Roller, Bee-Eater, White-breasted waterhen, Purple Swamphen, Pheasant-Tailed Jacana, Bronze winged jacana, Javan Pond-Heron, Common Snipe, Common Greenshank and a numerous of wetland birds.

6:30 am: Arrive at Skyland 7NG area
We will have short walk through the paddy rice fields and explore the stunning views of the lotus farms where the place that allow us to see many different species of birds such as Chinese Pond Heron, River Tern, Yellow Bittern, Great Egret, Common Greenshank, Pheasant Tailted Jacana, with a numberius of wetland birds plus Zebra Dove, Indian Roller, Bee-Eater, Rufescent Prinia etc.
7:30 am Breakfast
We will get on our supported vehicle and drive to the local restaurant nearby where we will enjoy our morning coffee and breakfast in the open air, including the view of a small lake that will have more opportunity to see some of the water birds as well.
8:20 am Cambodian Tailorbird and continue to the Skyland area
The Cambodian tailorbird is a species of bird endemic to Cambodia, likely confined to a single dense shrub habitat in the floodplain of the Mekong river. Continuously, we walk through the lotus farms with the best opportunities to see many species of birds like Oriental Pratincole, Pied bushchat male and female, Striated grassbird, little cormorant, Purple Sunbird, Kingfisher and Large Billed Crow, Paddy Field Pipit, Scaly Breasted Munia and a numerous of wetland birds.
10:30am Drive to Pech Makod Pagoda
The habitat for Blue-winged Pitta (will have a chance to see them from June to August as the breeding season). Additionally, will see many more species of birds such as Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Green- billed Malkoha, Abbot’s Babbler, Greater Coucal and possibly the Collared Owlet.
