Stop 1

Lisbon Cathedral, better known as Sé de Lisboa, is the oldest and most important church in the city, located in the Alfama district, it is the symbol of the Christian Reconquest, it is the most important church oldest in the capital. It was born in the Romanesque style but in the following centuries it underwent significant transformations in a Gothic style and although it has gone through the ages in an exemplary way, it has suffered several natural disasters such as the great earthquake of 1755. Its construction began in 1147 at the request of the first king of Portugal Afonso Henriques. This decision was made shortly after retaking the city from the Moors. It was built on the site of an old mosque to mark the triumph of the reconquest of Lisbon.
It is a pioneer monument and a very good way to immerse yourself in the beginning of our walk.

As imposing as it is elegant, Commerce Square (Praca do comercio) is the gateway to Lisbon, it is none other than the largest square in the capital. On the banks of the Tagus, surrounded by majestic buildings, it testifies wonderfully to the prestige of the city at the time of its maritime power.
I invite you to discover it through its history and I give you my recommendations for visits around this square, which will be an essential stopover during your stay in Lisbon.

Visit Praça de Luís de Camões in Lisbon and learn about the history, the buildings it houses and what to do in one of the most important and beautiful squares in the city.
This square is the transition zone between Chiado and Bairro Alto.
With the statue of Luís de Camões placed in the center, it is more than a beautiful and discreet urban square, it is also an imperative sign of modern concepts of citizenship, embodied in the figure of a hero - poet, eternal exile died poor and alone.
