About this experience

Your professional driver guide will drive through the majestic Maumturk mountains by Lough Nafooey, through Letterfrack village into Clifden town for lunch. You will enjoy a stop at Joe Joyce sheep dog demonstration, Kylemore Abbey, Killary Harbour for a photo and a hike in Connemara National Park if requested. Listen to the history and culture of the Connemara region from our educated and witty driver guide who will take you back in time to the early 1900's in Ireland. You will enjoy Joe Joyce displaying his sheep herding skills with his very clever Border Collie dogs as he sends commands by whistle to round up his sheep into a pen. Joe will also share some of the history about his homestead and farming in the area where he grew up. Learn about a famous movie with A list actors which he had a small part,
filmed in the Clonbur area of Connemara.

Stop 2

Take a stroll to the historic Kylemore Abbey built by Mitchel Henry in 1868 for his wife Margaret and family, view the Victorian decor and listen to the audio reciting the life of the Henry family. Travel on a shuttle bus to the Victorian walled gardens and feast your eyes on the 6 acres of beautiful flowers and plants. Our clients also love to walk into the 14th century style neo Gothic church which Mitchel built for his wife Margaret. Finally browse through the gift shop and purchase delicious sauces, jams and chocolates made by the Benedictine order of nuns who have lived at Kylemore Abbey since the early 1900's.

Stop 3

Take a hike on the beautiful Diamond hill in Connemara National Park which is 442 metres in height and will be between 1-3 hours in duration to climb depending on how high you would like to walk up this magnificent hill. Most of our clients prefer to hike for one hour.
