The main façade of the cathedral looks like a fortress, with two towers flanking the entrance and crenellations over the walls.

3
Stop 3

Alfama is one of Lisbon's oldest neighborhoods. It sits on a hill overlooking the Tagus River and is characterized by mazes of steep, narrow streets. You'll find beautiful, brightly colored residences, as well as churches, and plenty of terraces and viewpoints from which to see the city centre.

4
Stop 4

The City of Seven Hills' many peaks make for spectacular cityscape panoramas. It's upon these lofty summits that Lisbon's miradouros, or vantage points, reward with an invitation to sit back and soak up the view. Here, locals and visitors alike pause to relax and admire the Portuguese capital's beauty.

5
Stop 5

By Graça Church (one of the city's oldest, built in 1271 with a Baroque interior and 17th-century tile panels) is Miradouro da Graça, a splendid terrace offering a panoramic view of the castle and central Lisbon. The open-air café and its relaxing atmosphere is a favorite of young locals, especially in late afternoon.

6
Stop 6

The Church of Sao Domingos is situated Between Rossio and Praca da Figueira, It is one of the most beautiful churches in the city. It was built in the 13th century by order of King D. Sancho II, but the work, repairs, earthquake and fires completely changed the original medieval structure.

7
Stop 7

The Lift has a stunning observation deck at the top and offers magnificent views over Baixa. Since it was opened to the public, it has become one of the most popular viewpoints in Lisbon. Curiously, this lift can carry 20 people upwards, but can only take 15 people down.

Stop 8

The Praca de Dom Pedro IV in Lisbon, popularly known as Rossio, has been Lisbon's main square since the Middle Ages. In the past it was a place for celebrations, demonstrations, bullfights and executions. The current name is a tribute to King of Portugal, Pedro IV. His statue is in the center of the square.

Housed in an historic building modelled on a Moorish palace, the centre includes a beautifully-tiled restaurant, a smaller cafe/bar with a courtyard, an inner courtyard with fountain in Moorish style and even a ballroom complete with wood-panelling and chandeliers.
