The region of Niagara has a lot to offer visitors, but it’s the old town in Niagara-on-the-Lake that’s one of my favourite places to go at any time of the year. It’s located at the point where the Niagara River meets Lake Ontario and its historic buildings make you feel like you’re taking a walk back in time. The countless boutique shops, locally run restaurants, and the various historic sites all play a part in welcoming millions of tourists every year. There’s no shortage of things to do in Niagara-on-the-Lake’s old town
Drive time 90 minutes
Travel along the scenic Niagara Parkway, towards Niagara-on-the-Lake, to visit Niagara Parks' famous Floral Clock. The intricate designs on the face of the Floral Clock are created with thousands of carpet bedding plants and are changed twice each year. The planted face of the Floral Clock is maintained by Niagara Parks horticulture staff, while the mechanism inside is kept in working order by Ontario Power Generation. The tower at the back of the clock houses Westminster chimes that greet each quarter hour.
The Skylon Tower, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, is an observation tower that overlooks both the American Falls, New York, and the larger Horseshoe Falls, Ontario, from the Canadian side of the Niagara River.
Table Rock Centre has been at the heart of the traveller's experience for decades. Just for you, the inside of this incredible historical building has been transformed and Niagara Parks is thrilled to invite you in! Bright and spacious when you walk in, let your eyes wander as you witness the brand-new architectural features, fast casual food offerings at the new Table Rock Market and two levels of shopping at Table Rock Shop. The all-new design and revamped guest amenities, including a spectacular new entrance into Journey Behind the Falls, Table Rock Centre offers everything you'll need to make your visit to Niagara Parks unforgettable.
You will have around 3 hours of time to explore Niagara Falls independently. Most people will do the Hornblower Niagara Cruise during this time (available from May - November). You can choose to have your lunch at any of the restaurants or fast food eateries in Niagara Falls and you can even eat your lunch right at the brink of the falls where the water goes over the drop. Other activities you can choose to do independently are The Journey Behind the Falls and Niagara's Fury amongst many others. There are also casinos for the adults and Clifton Hill (arcades and Ferris Wheel) for the kids. Wander around taking photos and enjoy the ambience of being at this wonder of the world.
