Detailed itinerary

1

The archaeological zone of Paquimé is located approximately 350 km northwest of the city of Chihuahua and half a kilometer from the town of Casas Grandes.

Paquimé played an important role in the commercial and cultural relations between the Pueblo culture (which spread throughout the southwest of the present territory of the United States and northern Mexico) and the civilizations of Mesoamerica. In fact, it represents the most significant development in the Mexican area known as Oasisamérica.

This ancient city emerged at its peak, during the 14th and 15th centuries, as a regional center of notable dimensions, which came to have control over a vast territory, including settlements such as Cueva de la Olla and Cuarenta Casas.

2

The Museum of Northern Cultures opened its doors on February 26, 1996 and houses one of the most beautiful archaeological collections of Ancient Mexico recovered during the excavations of Paquimé and other important archaeological sites in the region made up of Northern Mexico and the Southwest of the United States known as the Great Chichimeca.
It is located in a contemporary building, built in 1993 by Arch. Mario Shetjnan. It is a building, with a contemporary design, semi-buried with a circular floor plan, large interior patios, large windows and its tones and textures are harmoniously incorporated into the desert landscape. This architectural project won the International Critics Award at the Architecture Biennial in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1992.

3

Juan Mata Ortiz is a town in the Mexican state of Chihuahua, located about 35 kilometers southwest of Casas Grandes, near the ruins of Paquimé and Colonia Juárez. It is famous for the pottery that is produced in it.
The name Juan Mata Ortiz was given in 1925 in memory of the military man who fought the Apache partialities in the region, keeping a trap for the capitancillos Juh and Jerónimo in Casas Grandes.

Internationally recognized for the quality of its ceramic hand-molded with clay from its mountains, mineral dyes, brushes made with human hair, fired over a live fire, previously decorated with inspiration from the ancient cultures that inhabited the valley, as well as new expressions and innovations. In the design.
