What you'll see

Enjoy a relaxing boat tour along the beautiful landscapes of the Ria Formosa. Visit one of the lagoon's most beautiful Natural Inlet between 2 islands, and also a pisturesque fishing village.

Enjoy a boat tour from Faro along the Ria Formosa Natural Park. Cruise by Barreta "the Desert Island" and the islands of Culatra and Armona, and discover an amazing environment with diverse birdlife and a natural inlet that feels like paradise. After meeting the crew and boarding “The Algarvian Queen” catamaran, you will receive a briefing before setting off on a journey that will take you cruising along the lagoon's sheltered waters. The channels among the marshlands offer magnificent views and a variety of birdlife. The first point of interest is Barreta Island, also known as “Desert Island”, a barrier island located at the westernmost point of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. Next is Farol Village (The Lighthouse Village) on Culatra Island. This is the southernmost point of Portugal: Cape Saint Mary, after which the lighthouse was named when it was built in 1851. Culatra Island is also home to a village with a long history of storytelling called Hangares. You will learn all about it as you cruise by. The next stop is the hidden gem of the journey. There is still plenty to see along the way, including oyster and clam farms where you can watch the fishermen at work. One of the most beautiful natural inlets of the Ria Formosa is the 'Old Inlet', located between the island of Culatra and Praia da Armona. It is here that you will truly experience the essence of this journey. It's important to stop here, you can swim or snorkel, or simply take a stroll along the golden sandy beach. From here, we will take you to the picturesque fishing village of Culatra at noon. You will then have the chance to choose a traditional island restaurant where you can experience the local gastronomy. After lunch you will cruise back along the lagoon’s channels and return to Faro. Relax and enjoy the experience of cruising on our safe, comfortable and spacious catamaran. It will be one of the best experiences you have in the Algarve!
