About this experience

Hidden between the mountains, with Bucegi on one side and Piatra Craiului Mountains on the other, these villages endulge in a slow, eternal rhythm, which inspires you peace and takes you into a beautiful past. Anywhere you look, you will find yourself in a dream, Magura and Pestera villages being two of the most beautiful settlements in the country. Here you will find the timeless traditional houses and that patriarchal life described in the local culture. You will discover a balance between what man has moulded with his own hands and everything that nature has to offer at it's best.Traditional villages await you to discover them, as they are only partly touched by civilization.

Pick up time is at 8:30 A.M. from your accommodation in Brasov. Driving to Pestera mountain village will take around 1 hour and this is the place where our hiking trip starts. The total length of the hike + breaks will take approx. 5-6 hours. We return back to Brasov around 4-5 P.M.

These two villages lie at the border of Piatra Craiului National Park one next to another and are part of a protected area that keeps safe the traditional way of life on the mountain villagers. With spectacular views of two mountain ranges, a hike through Magura and Pestera villages can be as educative as challenging and will leave you with a deep appreciation of the richness these people and places have to offer. This trip is suitable to families or any other groups of people that can walk on various terrains for half a day.

You need to bring hiking boots and clothes that suits the outside weather, back pack, rain coat and a small snack. We also recommend to bring a hat, sun cream, ticks spray and hiking sticks.
