A wide pedestrian avenue and the meeting-point for the people living in Bergen, this beautiful street was built after the great fire as a fire breaker, hence its width. Surrounded by shopping malls and cafes, this lively street will take you from the modern town to the old part of Bergen. There is a lot of historical landmarks along the way that will be explained.
Here you will see all the delicacies from the Norwegian fertile waters. You will be able to taste smoked whale meat and marinated salmon and see the huge king crabs in the water tanks.
It is a good spot for having dinner later in the evening as there are 4 restaurants inside the premises.
A unique site from the 13th century full of history. You have certainly seen pictures of this landmark in UNESCO's Heritage Site List, as it represents the image of Bergen.
This is, together with the Hall of Hakon, the oldest of all the buildings in Bergen. It has survived all of the fires that destroyed most parts of the city and has undergone many enlargements according to the different eras it has gone through.
A street with a lot of history. This street right behind Bryggen has many interesting stories, apart from a great view of the many times ignored back part of Bryggen, which shows another perspective of how the tenements were built in the 12th century. From here we will also go through a residential area with many narrow streets. Photogenic spot, with cobble stones and wooden houses, so typical of Bergen.
This part is optional. We can end the tour taking the 3-minute funicular ride to the top of this gorgeous mountain for incredible views of Bergen.
If you stay in the city centre and do not require pick up service you could easily meet up at this point. At least 5 minutes before the tour commences.
