Detailed itinerary

1

Your private tour begins with the transfer from the hotel or apartment in my UMM (open classic ex-army Portuguese jeep - it has a cover also for all weather conditions).

Get ready to be amazed by panoramic views and explore the heart of nature, while learning all about Madeira's traditions and history, always away from the typical “tourist routes”.

You will have the opportunity of riding in a very relaxed safari-style tour, going to places that you just have to see!

We`ll take you off the beaten track, whenever possible, through old roads & off-road, in really remote places, hidden valleys and villages lost in the mountains, so you can see the wild beauty of the island, all done in a very calm safe and relaxed way.

Along our route we will stop at all the good photo opportunities, on an exciting open jeep ride, enjoying various experiences, awakening all your senses.

In this tour we will visit the coastal region and hidden villages in the mountains of Câmara de Lobos

2

we will go to places you never imagined could exist, we will see the REAL MADEIRA, where most people live... enter the rugged mountains and valleys, passing through the wine region of Estreito de Câmara de Lobos.

Along the way (ancient paths), up the hill, we will make several stops for photos or explanations, being able to contemplate a fantastic scenery of banana trees or vineyards (this route seems painted in green or bronze).

The vines testify to the deep relationship between man and nature, in a communion of hard but beautiful work.

Stopping in all the good photo opportunities, always in a relaxed atmosphere, far from the beaten track.

After we keep going up to Faja das Galinhas viewpoint (700m) with an amazing view, where we will make another stop (15m)

The vines testify to the deep relationship between man and nature, in a communion of hard but beautiful work.

3

On the our way we will make some stops to visit banana and vine plantations

4

We will keep going up, direction of Fajã das Galinhas, where we will find an incredible view (700 meters high) difficult to describe.

5

From here we will be able to see Curral das Freiras (Nuns Valley), a village nestled on one of the many volcanic craters, which originated the Island. The village is so named as it is believed that it was the place chosen by a group of nuns to take shelter from the attacks of pirates and corsairs.

The warning of an unforgettable trip that, at this point, is done through off-road trails towards Jardim da Serra (coffee stop), land of cherries and chestnut trees, a journey of the senses as the intense perfumes (fragrant mimosa and eucalyptus) of the forest and the utter calmness of the cultivated fields overwhelms us.

6

After off-road, we will make a stop at a very local place for a drink or toilet (Coffee Break), where you can taste a homemade Madeira wine or a Poncha (Drinks not included).

But just to give you an idea, the price of the poncha can vary between € 2.00 and € 2.50, depending on the location of our stop
This town is characterized by a fertile land of cherries. It is the only place on the island where this red fruit exists and that is why every year a festival, which attracts thousands of visitors, is celebrated in his honor.

7

After coffee break and crossing all the cherry and chestnut plantations, we will do another off-road where we will have to cross the vineyards of a company called Henrique & Henriques, located on the top of the mountain, where we will be able to contemplate wonderful landscapes.

8
Stop 8

Cabo Girão, Europe’s highest sea cliff, with its 580mts of altitude hanging over the ocean. This is a perfect spot to admire the diversity of the natural beauty of the island.

After that, we will descend until finally reaching the blue sea, with the colorful boats typical of Câmara de Lobos, that rest of the fishing. Along the way, we will cross several plantations, where we can see several tropical fruits, mixed with sugar cane, banana trees, etc.

We will make several stops for photos.

9

At our next stop, we can take a short walk and observe the village of Câmara de Lobos from a different perspective.
