Detailed itinerary

1

Sfakia is a small, traditional village located on the southern coast of Crete, surrounded by steep mountains and facing the open, deep-blue Libyan Sea. The village has a peaceful harbor where fishing boats and small ferries are moored, gently swaying with the rhythm of the waves. Whitewashed houses with blue shutters line the seafront, and a few cozy tavernas offer the scent of grilled fish and freshly baked bread. The air is warm and salty, filled with the soft sound of seagulls and the occasional chatter of travelers. It’s a place that feels both remote and welcoming, a perfect departure point for the boat trip to the hidden village of Loutro.

2

Loutro is a peaceful seaside village on Crete’s southern coast, reachable only by boat. Surrounded by rugged mountains and the clear, calm waters of the Libyan Sea, it feels like a hidden paradise far from everyday noise. The village’s whitewashed houses with blue shutters line a quiet, car-free harbor, creating a picturesque and timeless scene. After swimming in the crystal-clear sea, we enjoyed a leisurely lunch at a small taverna by the water, tasting fresh seafood, crisp Greek salad, and refreshing drinks while watching boats gently sway. The afternoon passed in peaceful relaxation, with the soft sound of waves and warm sun overhead. In Loutro, time slows down, inviting you to fully unwind and appreciate the natural beauty and simple pleasures of authentic island life.

3

In the late afternoon, we took the boat back to Sfakia, watching Loutro slowly disappear behind us. The sea was calm, and the light golden. Once we arrived, our journey continued by road back to Chania. Tired but happy, we carried with us the peaceful feeling of Loutro—already missing its quiet charm and beautiful simplicity.
