Arusha National Park covers an area of 137 sq km/53 sq mi, and is located near the town of Arusha between Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. Despite its size, the park offers a spectacular landscape and a diverse wildlife population. Only a few parks offer the possibility of a walking safari where you have a unique opportunity to observe the wild animals at close quarters.
The park has a wealth of wildlife including Colobus Monkeys, velvet monkeys, bushbucks, buffalos, red forest duikers, hippos, elephants, and giraffes. Leopard and lions populations are present, but rarely seen. Birdlife, especially waterfowl, is abundant and interesting.

You will be picked up in the morning by our English-speaking guide at your hotel. Together, you will head to the entrance of Arusha National Park, the Ngongongare Gate. After the formalities are finished, the day's adventure can start.
Arusha National Park is one of the smaller parks of Tanzania and is a popular destination for day trips due to its proximity to Moshi and Arusha. Despite its size, the park offers a spectacular landscape and a diverse wildlife population.
Giraffes, zebras, antelopes, buffalos, warthogs, baboons, colobus monkeys, blue monkeys and other animals can be seen all year round - as well as a large variety of bird species. With luck, you will also see leopards, elephants and hyenas.
The park’s three most significant features include Mount Meru (Tanzania’s second highest peak at 4566m), the notably different coloured Momella Lakes, and the 3km wide Ngurdoto Crater, which was formed about fifteen million years ago. Because of its stunning beauty, many scenes of the Hollywood classic "Hatari" starring John Wayne and Hardy Krüger were filmed here.
First we will drive to the Momella Gate where an armed ranger will be waiting for you to accompany you on a walking safari. Here you will have the unique opportunity to observe the wild animals close up. Only a few other national parks in Tanzania give you such an opportunity and it is something that should not be missed.
After thoroughly enjoying the walking safari, you will have lunch at a picnic spot with a wonderful view over the Momella lakes. In the afternoon you will continue with an exciting game drive, where you will see the Ngurdoto Crater and other places. During the drive, your experienced guide will tell you everything you need to know about the park, the landscape and the animals.
In the late afternoon, just before the park closes, your driver will escort you back to the hotel. On
the way back, you can enjoy the sunset and your memories of the day.
