Our first stop will Our first stop will be at the iconic Ile aux Cerfs Island for a 45-Minutes visit and refreshments. We will then head to Grand River South East to enjoy the view of a waterfall that flows into the Indian Ocean.
Also known as Ile aux Fouquets, Ile Phare was amongst the first ones to be discovered in 1598 by the Dutch settlers. L'Ile Phare bears its name by virtue of a lighthouse built in 1864, which was still operational until beginning of the 20th century. Historically, Ile au Phare, situated within the bay of Mahébourg has fulfilled a strategic purpose during the naval battles at Grand Port.
After your visit to the Blue Bay Marine Park, we will pass by to Ile aux Aigrettes for some refreshments. The all-inclusive open bar is now open! Ile aux Aigrettes is an islet off the south-east coast of Mauritius. It functions as a nature reserve and a scientific research station. It is also a popular visitors attraction - both for tourists and for Mauritians.
You will have your snokelling session at the Blue Bay Marine Park or near Ilot Mangenie (depending on weather conditions and coral breeding season). Located in the south-east of the island, Blue Bay was declared a national park in 1997 before being designated as a wetland site under the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance in 2008. The marine park is renowned for its remarkable coral garden, which harbours hundreds of varieties of corals and its abundant fauna. Close to the coastline, the site offers ideal conditions for snorkelling with a rich biodiversity as well as calm and shallow sea-water!
Ile de la Passe is a rocky islet in the bay off Grand Port on the island of Mauritius. Between 20 and 25 August 1810, during the British campaign to capture the island (then called Isle de France) from the French, it was the scene of the Battle of Grand Port. This was a long and very hard-fought action between roughly equal forces of French and British frigates and, on balance, a defeat for the British, who lost four frigates, though one of these was subsequently recaptured.
