Alfama, the oldest district of Lisbon, is an old Medina with small rows and alleys, a perfect defense system during the period of Arabah in Portugal from the eighth to the twelfth century, after the Christian reconquest, the Arab civilization that lived here, if moved to the "Mouraria" neighborhood.

The church of St. Anthony was built in the exact place where St. Anthony was born, near the Lisbon Cathedral, the building was the responsibility of D. Afonso Henriques (first King of Portugal) in the twelfth century, when the city was conquered by the Moors.
