About this experience
Follow the roots of the Templar Knights in Portugal, starting in Coimbra, where we visit the Santa Cruz Monastery, founded by D. Afonso Henriques, the first Portuguese king and a close ally of the Templars.
Coimbra, the birthplace of many medieval kings, was deeply linked to Templar initiations. Then, we head to Tomar to explore the Castle and Convent of Christ, a grand gift from D. Afonso Henriques to the Templars for their role in the Reconquista.
This masterpiece blends Gothic and Manueline styles and holds secrets like the Charola, the church’s iconic altar.
