Meet your guide next to the Boy with the Harmony (Chłopiec z harmonią), in front of the City Hall, plac Armii Krajowej 1, 70-456 Szczecin
You will hop on a bike and cycle through the quiet park Plac Andersa, where your Private Guide will show you a couple of interesting monuments, such as Jan Czekanowski’s Bench. Further on you will find the beautiful neo-Gothic Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Church of St Wojciech. You will then head to the Harbour Gate, which is one of the only significant remnants of the 18th century city fortifications.
Another important landmark will be the most important church in the city, the Archcathedral Basilica of St James the Apostle. At the White Eagle Square you will see the Fountain, Ionic Palace, Palace “Under the globe”, and the Academy of Arts. You will then cycle to the historic Pomeranian Dukes’ Castle, where you will hear the legends about the Duchy of Pomerania.
Next, at the Solidarity Square, you will see the Sundial, the Royal Gate, and the Monument to the Victims of December 1970. You will also marvel at one of the most iconic buildings in Szczecin, the award-winning Karlowicz Philharmonic.
The route will continue along the Chrobry Embankment, which features several important landmarks such as the Maritime Academy, the National Museum, and the Chrobry Embankment Fountain. Enjoy the views across the West Oder River then cycle to the last stop of this tour, the adorable Market Square to see the Old Town Hall and the fantastic, gingerbread-style colorful tenement houses.
Learn more about the city and see more sights. The extended route includes cycling from the Solidarity Square through the forested Zheromsky Park to the Polish Theater. You will then continue along the Chrobry Embankment to the Market Square, and go further along the Oder riverbank to the scenic spot known as Szczecin’s Venice to admire the old, abandoned warehouses. Lastly, you will cross the Long Bridge to see St Trinitatis Kirche, three Craneosaurs, the Old Town Quay, and the Szczecin Sign.
You will cycle through the lively city center, past the Grunwaldzki Square and the University of Szczecin to the magnificent City Hall. Behind it is a scenic park with spacious lawns that are visited by hundreds of locals on a sunny day. Explore the park and see the Memorial of the Pole’s Feat. From there, the route will lead you to the Old Town, where you will have some free time to grab a local snack (at your own expense).
