Detailed itinerary

1

One of the largest fortified castles west of the Rhine is Vianden Castle. The castle was erected in the Romanesque style from the 11th to 14th centuries, with antecedents reaching back to the 10th century. At the conclusion of this period, Gothic modifications and embellishments were introduced. In the 17th century, a Renaissance palace was erected, but the castle was thereafter abandoned. It has lately been totally repaired and is now available to the public. (Outside Visit)

2

After our walk around the majestic Vianden Castle, our walk continues down the picturesque Grand Rue, the heart of Vianden. As we stroll along this charming street, you'll encounter other iconic landmarks and soak in the rich history, culture, and character that make this town so enchanting.

3

The Victor Hugo Museum explores the life and works of this famous writer, who wrote "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" and "Les Misérables," among many other works. Visitors may visit Victor Hugo's chamber, which is furnished with real items and has holographic projections that almost literally bring the writer to life. There are authentic artifacts to examine, as well as 70 information panels and a multimedia area. (Outside Visit)

4

Vianden has Luxembourg's only cable car. The chairlift, which was totally restored in 2006, takes you from the valley floor to a height of 440 meters. From there, you may get a great view of the entire city, including the castle and the dam. You may also use the inn to prepare for a possible trek up the mountain side or to ride the chairlift back down to the valley. (Outside Visit)
