Orheiul Vechi ("Old Orhei") is a spectacular archaeological complex located about 60km north-east of Chişinău between the villages of Trebujeni and Butuceni. This beautiful valley bordered by the river Răut, is one of the most famous tourist sites of the country. The panorama is breathtakingly beautiful.
There are several old buildings dating from different periods. Ancient fortresses dug in the rock, the remains of a mosque and Christian monasteries make the site an outstanding representative of the rich and eventful history of the region. A small local museum provides all the necessary information to visitors.

The Curchi Monastery, is one of the most significant monuments of Moldavian architecture. It is located in the region of Orhei, 55 km from Chisinau, the capital; on the right side of the Vatici Valley, at the foot of the forest called "Codru".
This monastic complex has a cultural and religious history of two and a half centuries and is considered the most beautiful and the most famous place of worship in Bessarabia.
The location of Curchi Monastery is of rare splendor thanks to the nature that surrounds it. It bathes in a green sea and plunges into a fabulous contrast with its white and red walls.
