...The Fortress of Bender, situated in the region of Transnistria, has a rich and ancient history. Its origins can be traced back to the medieval era when it served as a significant point of defense and trade. By the 13th century, the Genoese, renowned for their maritime prowess, extended their influence into the area. Their vessels navigated the Dniester River from the Black Sea, reaching Bender from the nearby Fortress of Akkerman (present-day Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, Ukraine).

Over the centuries, the fortress grew in strategic importance, serving as a critical stronghold for various powers. It witnessed numerous battles, sieges, and political changes, reflecting the complex history of the region. Today, the Fortress of Bender stands as a monument to its multifaceted past, attracting historians and visitors intrigued by its enduring legacy.
