Melaka River Cruise

The Melaka River is where the town began and it has played a key role in Melaka's colourful history. Taking a river cruise is like seeing Melaka from the back door. A few decades ago the river was a stinking waterway lined with decaying houses on stilts and the untidy rear side of crumbling shophouses.

Yes, there has been a lot of new development but at the same time an effort has been made to preserve many of the historic buildings and bridges along the river. Even the newer buildings have been painted with colourful murals depicting different aspects of Malacca's rich history and culture

There are now three jetties, one at each end of the route and one at The Shore. You can begin the cruise from any jetty: Muara Jetty, Taman Rempah Jetty and The Shore Jetty.

Stop 3

Jonker Street – the centre street of Chinatown – was once renowned for its antique shops. However over the years it has turned to clothing and crafts outlets as well as restaurants. The best part of Jonker Street is the night market on Fridays and Saturdays that sells everything from tasty treats to cheap keepsakes.

Kampung Morten – A LIVING MUSEUM IN THE MIDDLE OF MELAKA TOWN

Many tourists, who have visited Kampung Morten here, described this traditional village as a 'living museum'. This is no surprise as residents at this world heritage site, located right in the middle of this historic city, have been practicing a lifestyle that does not differ much when compared to that of their forefathers apart from the unique design of the village's houses.

MALAY VILLAGE, VILLA SENTOSA, LIVING MUSEUM, FAMILY POSSESSIONS, CULTURAL SHOW.
