Detailed itinerary

1

It was at the place known as Cova da Iria that Our Lady of Fatima appeared to the Shepherds in 1917. More than 100 years later, Fatima remains a place of faith, worship and pilgrimage for tens of thousands of believers. Here one meditates, promises are fulfilled, protection is sought from Our Lady of Fatima, but above all, one contemplates the beauty and grandeur of one of the largest Christian shrines in the world.

Stop 2

Situated in the village of Batalha, central Portugal, Batalha Monastery is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. Built by D. João I, in 1385, to celebrate the victory in the battle of Aljubarrota, the monastery of Santa Maria da Vitória also has elements of Manelina architecture of rare beauty.

3

From the site of Nazaré we will see a wonderful beach situated in an extensive bay and the blue of the Atlantic Ocean. Depending on the time of year and the state of the sea, we may eventually see the largest "surfable" waves in the world. We can still observe the Nazarenes with their traditional clothes as well as the places where the fish are still dried.

4

This charming village, with its whitewashed houses and its fourteenth-century walls, was for years the gift of kings to their wives as a wedding dowry. It was an important seaport. Today, somewhat distant from the sea, the village of Óbidos retains its characteristic archetypal beauty of the medieval age. This is the place of choice to taste the famous Ginja Liqueur.
