About this experience

This hike is suitable for the whole family, at the beginning we will pass through some farm fields and we will descend to the canyon where we will walk through a narrower path and we will have to cross streams. This section is very entertaining, since there are some small waterfalls where we can cool off and take pictures.

The nature of this area offers us charming images that are worth knowing and except on weekends there is no greater influx of tourists, so you will be able to appreciate the beauty and tranquility of this great natural attraction.

As it is a private service tour you can choose the starting time, however it is recommended to start early between 7 and 8 am.

08:00 am. We pick you up from hotel (it is possible to depart earlier or later, upon request) then will leave the city by the north side along the way will observe the three volcanoes that surrounded Arequipa town, Chachani, Misti, and Picchu Picchu.

Our private transport will take us as close as possible to the Capua canyon, from where we will start the walk to the waterfall, this walk will take us approximately one hour.

It is surprising to arrive at the beginning of the Capua canyon and admire the scenic beauty and the contrast between the aridity of the hills and the greenery of the canyon, almost always under an intense radiant sun and blue sky.

After the walk to the waterfall we will visit the thermal baths of La Calera located in the traditional town of Yura whose temperature fluctuates between 20 ºC to 30 ºC. These pools, although not very hot, are very good for recovering energy and are well known as miracolous throughout Arequipa, since the locals attribute healing properties to them. Their prestige is due to the fact that they contain alkaline sulfur, iron salts and other minerals that are considered curative of rheumatism, arthritis, poor blood circulation, skin diseases, obesity, stomach problems, nervous disorders and stress according to studies carried out by the German Tadeo Haenke and the doctor Edmundo Escomel.

After the baths, we will be able to walk a bit around the town of Yura, where we will observe republican mansions built with pink ashlar (stone of volcanic origin), and we will visit the old lime kilns. Lunch and return to Arequipa around 4:00 pm.
