About this experience
Our popular winter kayaking trip in Ålesund is perfect for both beginners and those looking for a slightly different introduction to our Art Nouveau city. The Gulf Stream always provides us with a decent water temperature; the canals never freeze over. And at this time of year, the sea is exceptionally clear allowing you the opportunity to observe both fish and starfish in an even better way than in summer.
Our kayak guides have extensive experience and local knowledge ensuring you will have a great day on the water. We use our stable tandem kayaks on these trips, providing everyone with a safe and enjoyable experience.
Does kayaking in the winter sound cold? Once you have the drysuit on and get into the kayaks it's surprisingly warm. Your lower body will be warm inside the kayaks, and your upper body will mostly be in motion.
We will wrap up the kayaking trip with a visit to the Svai sauna in Brosundet. Here, you can enjoy Ålesund's coolest sauna.
