In the company of your own guide, you can explore the city by foot on this unique walking tour. The tour is organized with 3 hours duration.
On this tour we take you on a walk around the small city centre of Tromsø that has been founded in 1795 on the island of Tromsøya and its surrounding. The city has, also called the Gateway to the Arctic, been throughout history the start for several Polar Expedition.
Tromsø has long been an important base for many polar expeditions, and the Polar Museum exhibits and presents this polar seafaring tradition. After the visit at the Polar Museum, we will go to Full Steam where we will visit the exhibitions about the Maritime and Fisheries history as well as Sea Sami culture and history.
The walk continues through the “Storgata” towards the Framsenter (the main building in Tromsø for research in the arctic). We will walk next to Ølhallen, Tromsøs oldest pub which used to be a popular place to stay for fishermen and explorers.
