Detailed itinerary

1

Leaving Cape Town we drive along the world famous Groote Schuur hospital where the first human to human heart transplant was performed.

2

Dorp Street has a number of claims to fame. It is one of the longest rows of surviving old buildings of any major town in Southern Africa and the second oldest road in the country. It joined the Cape to Stellenbosch and was one of the first roads to develop. This was the main trade route for farmers wanting to sell wine, wheat and other produce.

3

Stellenbosch is filled with history, beauty and a strong focus on culture. We will walk the oldest historical part of Stellenbosch Dorp street ‘the wagon way" also declared a National monument. The street was the original road between Cape Town & Stellenbosch a wagon route used for transporting goods and post. The street features a number of old buildings and gables with a variety of architectural styles from Cape Dutch to Victorian. Most definitely a walk down memory lane.

Located in the historical oak-lined streets, Stellenbosch University is the oldest and largest of the 5 campuses across the Western Cape.

5

Our first stop in Stellenbosch is at Oom Samie Se Winkel (uncle Samie's store) it is the oldest existing general dealer in South Africa, a Victorian style store that operate the same way as it did back in the Victorian era. It is an institution in Stellenbosch continuing the fine old tradition of the rural trading post, Oom Samie Se Winkel stocks everything. Once inside you are transported back more than 100 years ago the shelves are fill with relics as well as proudly South African products.

6

Lanzerac Estate, is steeped in history having been established in 1692 it is the third oldest farm in the area and home of the world's first bottled Pinotage. This visionary release marked the birth of Pinotage as a unique variety from South Africa. To get the action going we have selected a Wine & chocolate pairing for you to experience. Most guest have only one short word to describe this tour - YUM!
What could be more delicious than the taste of melting chocolate on your tongue and then swirl some delightful wine over it to create a taste sensation like heaven in your mouth.
If you don't eat the chocolate some one else will do!
