Es la muestra del Barroco popular en su máxima expresión. El emplo es del Siglo XVI y "Tonanzintla" significa "Lugar de nuestra madrecita". En la cultura prehispánica Tonantzi es uno de los nombres de la diosa del maiz y está asociada a la protección de los hombres. Sin duda, este templo es uno de los más hermosos y extraordinarios de México, pues muestra el Barroco Mexicano en su máxima expresión: decorada con maíz y ángeles morenos con rasgos indígenas.

El templo muestra el barroco mexicano. Entre 1650 y 1750 fue decorada por los alfareros poblanos con mosaicos de Talavera Poblana dando una belleza única en México.

En este punto podrás visitar por tu cuenta varios atractivos. Comenzando por el Portal Guerrero con más de 46 arcos de medio punto que suman 170 metros, uno de los más largos del continente. También podrás visitar el Ex Convento de San Gabriel, de los más antiguos del país construido sobre las ruinas del Templo de Quetzalcóatl. Dentro podrás admirar unos frescos que datan de 1533 y pinturas de la vida de San Francisco de Asís. Junto al Ex Convento se encuentra la Capilla Real construida en 1540 para adoctrinar a los indígenas. Su belleza radica en sus 49 cúpulas. Tambiién podrás visitar la Casa del Caballero Aguila donde constantemente se exponen pinturas y obras de arte.
Finalmente, en este punto tendrás tiempo libre para visitar también por tu cuenta la pirámide de Cholula (entrada no incluida) así como para disfrutar de la gastronomía local.
