The short trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp is what Mardi trek is. This trek can be accommodated within 5-6 days as well, but this won’t allow you to enjoy the mountains and nature as much. Also, you might fall victim to Altitude Sickness. Detail itinerary:
Day 01: Kathmandu to Pokhara via AC tourist bus: 7 hours. After early morning breakfast, we will leave Kathmandu on an AC tourist bus to arrive at the exotic tourism hub of Nepal. Along the long 7-hour drive, we will see rivers, terraces, rocky gorges, lush forest etcetera. On reaching Pokhara, we will land our stuffs at hotel , refresh and then roam the beautiful city pf Pokhara. We will enjoy boating on the scenic Phewa lake , where we might even see the reflections of Annapurna Range and Mt. Machhapuchre on the lake. We will stay first night of Mardi Trek at the hotel in Pokhara.
Day 02: Drive to Dhampus Phedi and trek from there to Pitam Deurali: 1-hour drive & 5 hours trek. We will start our day with hot breakfast first thing in the morning. We will then continue our trekking journey. Firstly, we will drive to Dhampus Phedi which might take us about an hour. After that following the scenic trekking trail, we will reach Deurali at altitude of 2100 meters passing Pothana village through Rhododendron forest. Deurali is a beautiful village located on a ridge, appropriate for amazing views of mountain ranges like Annapurna South, Mardi Himal and even Machhapuchre. The trekking company will have managed the Guest house or tea house in Deurali for accommodation purpose.
Day 03: Trek from Pitam Deurali to Forest Camp: 5 hours. Enjoying the serenity of the forest adorned with beautiful red rhododendron, we will continue walking on the trek route to arrive at Forest Camp at 2520 meters. Our trek route is likely to be uncrowded as Mardi Trek is still being explored. We will have to trek in uneven terrains for 5 hours to reach Forest camp where we will spend our night.
Day 04: Hike from Forest Camp to Low Camp: 3 hours. To reach the destination of the fourth day of Mardi Trek, we will walk through dense and thick forest teeming with rhododendron and other trees. You will get glimpses of Annapurna South, Hiuchuli spellbinding you by their beauty. As we come closer to Low Camp (3150 meters), we will be bewitched by the enchanting views of northern face of Mount. Fishtail. We will spend the night in guest house managed for trekking team by Himalayan Holyland Treks and Expeditions.
Day 05: Trek to High Camp from low camp: 4 hours. We will trek to High Camp at height of 3500 meters. We will pass via rhododendron forest, high altitude pasture for this purpose. We will trek for 4 hours and might encounter the national bird of Nepal- Danphe. Trekking uphill to reach High Camp, we will be graced by the gorgeous Mountain panoramas. We will be trekking towards Machhapuchre and Mardi Himal along an edge. We will stay overnight in High Camp.
Day 06: Trek to Mardi Himal base Camp- Exploration/ Acclimatization day. Trek back to High Camp We will hike up to reach the highest point of Mardi Trek along a thin ridge. We will reach Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500 meters) for the amazing views. From this amazing viewpoint, spectacular scenery is seen. Some of these mountains are - Mt. Annapurna I (8091 meters), Mount Fang-Baraha Sikhar (7647 meters) and Annapurna south (7219 meters). Other popular peaks that can be witnessed properly from this viewpoint are- Machhapuchre (6993 meters) Singhachuli (6501 meters), Hiuchuli (6441 meters), Mardi Himal (5587 meters). After capturing this moment and these mesmerizing panoramas in our camera and heart, we will trek down to reach High Camp. This day of Mardi Himal Trek also happens to be our acclimatization day. We will spend our night at High Camp.
Day 07: Trek from High Camp to Sidhing: 6 hours. we will witness the lifestyle of people so away from modernization but with close proximity to Mother Nature while trekking down to Sidhing (1280 meters) from High Camp. This trekking route is different than the trail we arrive on. So be prepared to be excited and thrilled as you return to Upper Mardi region crossing several forest and terraced fields. We will stay at the guest house with our trekking team in Sidhing.
Day 08: Drive from Sidhing to Pokhara: about 2.5 -3 hours. Eighth day of our trek we will head towards Pokhara, which will take us about 3 hours. we will walk slowly, taking rest and enjoying the stunning mountain ranges. We can explore Pokhara later this day, we will stay the night at hotel in Pokhara enjoying the completion of our unforgettable trek.
Day 09: Travel from Pokhara to Kathmandu by AC tourist bus: About 7 hours. final day of our trek, we will arrive at Kathmandu via 7-hour long drive from Pokhara in a tourist bus. We will have cheerio dinner in one of the Nepali restaurants. You can depart or say goodbye depending upon your trekking package.
