The cruise will include the flooded forest, the stilted villages and floating villages of Kompong Phluk and the larger floating fishing villages across the lake , crossing the lake in our traditional flat bottomed cruiser, is a great experience in itself, and very few tourist get to see this part of Cambodia, with the rare and unique large water birds,and our Tara Lake guides having grown up in this area, this is a great way to relax and enjoy the numerous sights and sounds that await you on this,your exploration and discovery cruise.

We explore both the stilted villages,river systems,the flooded forests and also the floating villages, all very different and also quite unique, we also cruise over the great Tonle Sap lake (the largest fresh water lake in SE Asia) and certainly one of the most riches fishing lakes in the world, in one of our traditional long tail motor boats (all equipped with lift jackets,experienced drivers and our expert lake guides), our boats are of a special unique design,allowing us to travel into areas other boats cannot go, as the water levels of the lake, the forests and the rivers,can vary from just half meter to over 10 meters , its important to have boats that can safely manage this seasonal change,whilst still allowing our guests to experience the real Cambodian fishing villages and forests up close and in person.Our guides where also born in this area along with our drivers,so we certainly know all the great places to visit in this unique and interesting 2 villages,lake and sunset tour
Our local guide will meet you in your hotel or guesthouses foyer/reception area just prior to the start time and look after you the whole way,the trip out to the first village is in itself a very interesting travel,passing many rice and lotus fields and depending on the time of year ,we will meet our boat at the entry to the Kompong Phluk River , whilst we cruise down this river some floating homes and also some stilted homes and spirit houses can be seen,in the middle of the actual town ,our boat will dock at the Monks Temple and training school, we will enter the large Pergola,which is beautifully adorned with art work important to the faith of the township , from there we will either walk or cruise along the main street(depending on current water levels) this is the stilted villages , local schools,shops,medical center,fishing net repair shops,boat builders are all here, after our tour of the complete town of some 3000 we enter the very unique and peaceful flooded forests.
